FELLOW DEMOCRATS -
The headline in the Morning Call on Saturday March 5 was "Bucks officials charged with corruption". As you probably know by now Bucks County Register of Wills Barbara Reilly and three others in her office were arrested and charged with several offenses, including doing political work on county time. Ms. Reilly has served in that office since 1975 and these types of things have evidently been going on a long while.
Details will be forthcoming but, it seems to me, although the acts are bad enough, the attitude of entitlement and arrogance is even worse. Reilly and other Republicans are routinely re-elected in our county and they assume that will continue and it matters not what they do in office.
This year the voters of Bucks County will end one-party rule. Commissioner Diane Marseglia has been shut out of much county business by her Republican colleagues but has not remained silent. She and her Democratic running mate, Det Ansinn, will bring the story of patronage politics and the perils of one-party rule to every Bucks voter this fall.
In addition to Diane and Det, Bucks Dems recently endorsed a complete slate of candidates for county offices:
Mary Whitesell of Springfield Twp. (!!!) for Clerk of Courts
Donna Caracappa of Penndel for Register of Wills
Tom Kearns of Langhorne for Treasurer
Dr. Umar Farooq of Bensalem for Coroner
Judge James McMaster for Court of Common Pleas
State Judicial candidates endorsed by the county and state Dem. committees are David Wecht of Allegheny Co. for Superior Court and Bucks County's own KATHRYN BOOCKVAR for Commonwealth Court.
This is a slate of people that all Bucks voters can and should get behind. They promise change, open government and a county run for the people NOT A POLITICAL MACHINE.
